Kill My Soul
This was kind of a proto-Unit. We were all old school mates, but we were at Uni when we decided to form a band (Summer of '93). Phil had played bass for years (He used to play double bass in the County Youth Orchestra with me and bass in all the school bands) and I'd been playing guitar for a couple of years and had started writing tunes. Didn't know any drummers (still don't, obviously) so I started learning how to programme beats on a drum machine. Ryan just invited himself in, basically. He'd only been playing guitar a few months and we hadn't intially planned for him to be in it, but what the hell. Cosmic was the only guy we knew who was prepared to sing and that was the line up. The first track we actually did together was "The Blue Veined Bossa" under the name The Narly Undesirables Of Bossa Nova, which had Cosmic on flute, and Dr. Steve on keys, but then the Metal stylings began in earnest.

We only ever gigged at private parties, but we wrote and recorded quite a lot. We released a 10-track album "Grow" and probably demoed about another 15 tunes, but Phil was living over the other side of the country and Cosmic might as well have been (no change there then) so a parting of the ways was inevitable. We replaced them with Ross on vocals and Glyn on bass, but by that time my enthusiasm was waning and by the end of '95, it was time to move on.
